A rare dining set by Gościcińskie Fabryki Mebli (GFM).A lovely set made in Poland during the 1960's by Polish designer and manufacturer GFM, the piece includes an extending dining table in teak veneer and food curved-back chairs with new retro-inspired upholstered seats. The round table, when closed, comfortably sits four with seats that tuck under completely for excellent space-saving and sleek mid-century design, it can be extended with an inner mechanised leaf that would allow for the seating of six. The table top shows some areas of damage to the veneer and the leaf mechanism has once been damaged and so has been addressed using wood glue and screws and is perfectly functional but some damage is evident, particularly when extended. It does not detract from the beauty of the set but please check photos carefully.Four chairs all in excellent condition, each has been reupholstered in retro-inspired upholstery fabric in shades of magenta, teal, blue, mustard and cream, complementing the warmth of the wood beautifully. This is a rare piece by an unusual designer from a by-gone era that shows wear consummate with it's age but is still beautiful, structurally sound and oh-so- retro stylish!Dimensions:Table:Height: 77cm, width when closed: 120cm, width when extended: 165cmChairs:Back height: 74cm, seat height: 45cm, depth: 50cm, width: 50cm.Collection from AL4 St Albans or happy to work with a courier of your choice.
